This garden was designed with participation of both the owners and their children. In the front yard, native and drought resistant plants form a barrier or buffer between the street and the small nested front lawn so the children can feel secure when they play. The side yard is connected to a deck which serves as an extension of the living room. Stairs cascade from the deck to the backyard where we transformed a large brick and stone antique incinerator into a focal point: the heart of the gathering space. A sheltering oak tree brings calm and serenity to the urban and active family space.
